Nigerian solution ready for global review and judgement : IMAGINE CUP FINALS

Barely few weeks ahead of  the global contest for the 2013 Microsoft Imagine Cup scheduled to hold in Russia next month,  the Developer & Platform Evangelism Lead / Microsoft Anglophone West Africa, Shina Oyetosho has  said with optimism that the solution,  CardioLife developed by the  Nigerian team was  ready and tested on Windows 8 and phone devices .
Team Life Saver from Obafemi Awolowo University and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology  have developed an application called CardioLife, which helps prevent heart attacks by monitoring heart readings on the fly via the Microsoft Windows Phone. It also provides a rehabilitation programme for stroke patients using the Kinect sensor.

With 10 teams from African continent for the world wide finals, he said that  teams that did not make it to the global finals from their local finals  had the opportunity to compete for the online portal competition

Although  no team from Africa qualified for the World Wide finals through the online competition, he disclosed that Nigerian team has got supports from Dell which will provide Laptop Nokia which will   provide  windows phone OS devices and MainOne which had already provided  internet connectivity support during the local finals held in April.

“During this week,  (last week) the team will be paying a courtesy call to the NITDA DG to drum up support from the agency. I have confidence in the Nigerian team. They will fly Nigerian flag well in the world wide finals. We are ready for the 2013 Microsoft Imagine Cup competition” he said .
Before now, Dele Akinsade Developer Platforms Evangelism Lead, Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands had posted  on Tech Blogs, saying that each competing team deserves the highest recognition for the creativity and imagination applied to some of the world’s biggest challenges.
“All of these solutions will have an impact on the future and inspire others.  Since Imagine Cup was launched a decade ago, over 1.65 million students across the globe have participated” he said.
