Techniques Used to Steal Your Identity

Identity theft is a crime involving the use of someone else's personal information to access their money and other resources without them knowing it. Usually, thieves steal their victim's credit card and other bank accounts to get their money. Identity theft is a serious crime that can ruin someone's life. Worse, it can happen to anyone, even you.
However, there are ways to avoid being victimised and one of them is to know their strategies. Here are some techniques that identity thieves use to steal your identity and personal information.
Phishing
This technique is done by doing a scam. Thieves would call or e-mail you pretending to be from a bank or credit card company. Sometimes, they also send emails to your address and act like representatives of your utility provider. They will trick you to give them your bank account information and other personal details such as name, address and birthday. Once they get your information they will use them for their own good.
In order to avoid phishing, you have to be cautious of calls and electronic or snail mails you receive, especially unsolicited ones. Do not give personal details unless you are sure that it was a legit call.
Hacking
Be careful to save passwords and personal information in computers, even if it's your personal laptop. Why? Because identity thieves can hack your system and when this happens, they will have access to your files. Many thieves are good at hacking e-mail accounts. Given this, make sure to use strong passwords and don't tell anyone about them. Also, ensure that the website you are visiting are secured and that you are using anti-spyware software.
Card Skimming
Thieves also do card skimming, where they will record your ATM pin or credit card numbers while you're doing your transaction. Skimming is done with the use of data-storing devices, some of which are equipped with a camera. This is why you have to be careful when paying with your credit card or withdrawing from the ATM. Don't leave your eyes from your card when you give it to the cashier and make it a habit to cover your hand when entering your PIN.
These are only some of the techniques used to steal someone's identity. Others include redirecting the mail, dumpster diving, and literally stealing belongings. To save yourself from all of these, it's best to remain vigilant. And once you notice that your cards are missing, your mail box tampered, or your e-mail hacked, report to the proper authorities immediately and block all your financial accounts.

eBooks Can Now Be Regular Books and Vice Versa

Did you know that eBooks can now be regular books and vice versa? Today I am going to share with you how simple it can be to turn your eBook into a regular book and how you can turn your regular book into an eBook.

The answer is so simple it may shock you. To put it simply you can turn your eBook into a regular book by going to Amazon and publishing your book on their website for free. That is right, you are not going to have to pay to convert your content into a physical book and what makes it even better is that once your book is on the Amazon platform you are going to be able to reach a huge audience of book readers unlike what you would expect at your local bookstore.

Getting started may seem a little bit overwhelming at first because the Amazon website is a huge marketplace but I am going to show you how quickly you can get started and how simple it can be to get set up.

The first place you can go to get information about the different options that are available to you as an Amazon user when it comes to self-publishing your content can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/seller-account/mm-summary-page.html?ie=UTF8&ld=AZFooterSelfPublish&topic=200260520

After you have reviewed the details of the options that are available and you are ready to get started, you will go to CreateSpace to get your account and to convert your eBook into both a digital book (that can be used on the kindle platform) as well as a physical print that Amazon customers can order easily from their website.

CreateSpace is an Amazon company and they walk you through step by step how to set up your account and publish your first book. They even offer a free cover creation program so you can create your very own cover. This can save you a lot of money versus paying someone else to create your cover for you. Covers can range anywhere from $5 to $150 depending on the company and the quality of their cover.

For your first cover though you can create your own and choose to hire someone else in the future when you are an established Amazon/Kindle author.

If you want to convert your regular book into an electronic one the method is the same, Amazon. When it comes to turning your eBooks into regular books it has never been easier than it is today.
