The immediate past Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, has promised to restore peace and tranquility to Nasarawa State if elected the governor of the state come 2015 elections.
Maku stated this on Sunday in Abuja, shortly after he was cleared by the screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest primaries under the platform of the party.
The former minister, who vowed to chase out all the mercenaries disturbing the peace of the state, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring violence for political gains.
“I know they know what I will do to them if by God’s grace I win the election and get sworn in,” he said.
Maku expressed optimism that he would emerge as the standard bearer of the PDP, as he said his hard work and loyalty to the party from 1998 when he joined the party and never defected would pay off for him.
He noted that political parties should not be seen as mere platforms for contesting elect but affiliated to ideologies.
“If you don’t belong to a party, that means you have no ideology. Even if you take my DNA and check, you will see PDP.”
While condemning the administration of ruling APC in the state, Maku said:
“I am opposed to APC. It is a very violent party; I don’t believe in their ideology.”
